‘Surface Decoration in Silk and Metallic Thread’ is the third in a series of books on different aspects of sixteenth and seventeenth century bobbin lace, each providing historical context, illustrations of original lace and worked samples, together with patterns and working diagrams. This volume presents reconstructions of many of the great variety of surface decorations that can be seen on portraits, and a few examples of surviving lace.
