‘Introducing Bone Lace’ is a prequel to Gil Dye’s series of books on different aspects of sixteenth and seventeenth century bobbin lace, each providing historical context, illustrations of original lace and worked samples, together with patterns and working diagrams. The book combines a historical account with practical instruction. It assumes no previous knowledge of bobbin lace, and so is suitable for complete beginners. It would also be of interest to textile researchers and those involved in re-enactment or costumed interpretation.
